Recruitment agents
Oxford Nanopore is seeking a Configuration Manager to join its rapidly-growing, interdisciplinary team. The role will be pivotal in the process of developing and deploying the Company’s GridION molecular sensing system, currently in development, from early smaller-scale use to more broad commercial availability. The GridION system is Oxford Nanopore’s proprietary platform technology for the electronic analysis of single molecules such as DNA, RNA or proteins.
Responsibilities
The Configuration Manager (CM) will work closely with the software, production engineering and R&D engineering teams to trace, audit, change-control and document all hardware/firmware/software components and revisions within our product offerings.
The CM will also work closely with the test and verification functions within our process development group to ensure that interactions between relevant components are also under documented control. This CM regime is applied to R&D prototypes including consumable cartridge and chemistry versioning, demonstrator systems and manufactured GridION products. The CM will introduce software systems and processes to assist with their role.
However, ONT works under an agile product development regime and the successful candidate will be experienced in implementing product wide change control systems in a way that enables and yet safeguards rapidly changing technologies. The CM will also interface with external suppliers to ensure that sub-components of the GridION system are tracked within our change management systems. The CM will also assist our engineers with building on-instrument pre-emptive fault detection and reporting systems, customer fault reporting and internal software/firmware test harnesses.
Skills required
This position would suit candidates who have demonstrated configuration management skills in a fast-moving technology development setting. This should include experience of using leading configuration management software systems and experience of implementing relevant recognised standards (e.g. ISO). The role encompasses all hardware/firmware/software in a computer like sensing instrument and it seems likely that successful candidates will have experience of CM in development and manufacturing environments for high volume consumer electronics devices (computers, set-top boxes etc.).
Reporting initially to the CTO, you will have excellent communications and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across disciplines.
