1000 genomes publication Oct 2010
After two years of work by 75 members in the international 1000 genomes consortium, a landmark Nature paper gives details of the pilot project. 15 million gene variants have been identified, half of which were seen for the first time. Wheat genome published Aug 2010

The Human Genome at Ten Years Old Jun 2010
On 26th June 2000, President Clinton, PM Tony Blair, Francis Collins and Craig Venter held a press conference to announce the first draft of the Human Genome. Ten years on, many commentators are reviewing the project. What were its aims, have they been achieved? Has biology changed substantially and has medicine also benefited?
