Alan Aubrey Non-executive Director
Alan is the Chief Executive Officer of IP Group plc, a company that
invests in and builds technology businesses based on intellectual
property originating from Universities and other research intensive
institutions. Since its inception, IP Group has invested in over 60
such businesses and now has long term partnership agreements in place
with ten of the UK’s leading Universities.
Previously Alan was
the joint founder and Chief Executive of Techtran Group Limited.
Techtran was the first Company in Europe to offer a complete
out-sourced technology transfer function to Universities. Techtran was
acquired by IP Group in 2005. Alan is also the Non-Executive Chairman
of and investor in Proactis, an AIM listed software Company based in
York and the Non-Executive Chairman of and investor in Energetix Group
plc, an AIM listed Company based in Chester. Energetix has developed a
number of products for the alternative energy sector. Alan is a founder
and Non-Executive Director in Aquarius, a Venture Capital Business that
specializes in running Venture Funds backed by leading Entrepreneurs.
Alan
is also a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at
the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills, the Government
Department that has overall responsibility for the UK Science Budget
and University sector. From 1995-200 Alan was a partner in KPMG where
he specialized in providing advice to fast growing technology
businesses. Alan holds a BA in Economics from the University of Leeds
and a MBA with Distinction from the University of Bradford. He is a
fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
