Working for Oxford Nanopore
Oxford Nanopore Technologies is a rapidly-growing, dynamic new company seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join as the Configuration & Release Manager. This challenging, new role will be pivotal in the process of developing and deploying a new generation of nanopore-based electronic systems for analysis of single molecules including DNA, RNA and proteins. The GridION™ system and miniaturised MinION™ device are designed to provide novel qualities in molecular sensing such as real-time data streaming, improved simplicity, efficiency and scalability of workflows and direct analysis of the molecule of interest . The devices may be used in scientific research, personalised medicine, crop science, security & defence and environmental applications. Supported by a broad patent portfolio, the Oxford Nanopore pipeline includes multiple generations of nanopore-based sensing technologies including those based on both biological and solid-state nanopores.
The Configuration & Release Manager will work closely with relevant teams across the Company to trace, audit, change-control and document all hardware/firmware/software components and revisions within our product offerings to enable successful compatability and release of product.
The role will also work closely with the test and verification teams within process development and production to ensure that interactions and compatability between relevant components are also under documented control. This Configuration regime is applied to R&D prototypes including consumable cartridge and chemistry versioning, demonstrator systems and manufactured products. The successful candidate will introduce software systems and processes to assist with the effectiveness of their role.
However, ONT works under an agile product development regime and the successful candidate will be experienced in implementing product wide change control systems in a way that enables and yet safeguards rapidly changing technologies. The role will also interface with external suppliers to monitor and ensure that sub-components of the GridION™ system and miniaturised MinION™ device are tracked within our change management systems. The Configuration and Release Manager will also work closely with the Product Manager to assist our engineers with building on-instrument pre-emptive fault detection and reporting systems, customer fault reporting and internal software/firmware test harnesses.
The successful candidate will be strong a communicator and relationship builder with the ability to facilitate change. A proven track record in configuration and release management in a fast paced technology development setting including experience of using leading edge CM software systems and experience of implementing relevant recognised tandards (e.g. ISO). The role encompasses all hardware/firmware/software in a computer like sensing instrument and ideally, the successful candidate will have experience of CM in development and manufacturing environments for high volume consumer electronics devices (computers, set-top boxes etc.).
Reporting initially to the CTO, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build effective working relationships.
